  7. In the world of engineering, the least productive and effective engineers are givers.
In one study, when more than 160 professional engineers in California rated one another on help given and received, the least successful engineers were those who gave more than they received.
They were so concerned about what was best for them that they were not willing to sell aggressively
These givers had the worst objective scores in their firm for the number of tasks, technical reports, and drawings completed – not to mention errors made, deadlines missed, and money wasted.
Going out of their way to help others prevented them from getting their own work done.
    Option C
In the second sentence, GIVING is being talked about and in the fourth sentence, the people who are giving are being talked about. Hence, third is the odd sentence.

  8. The Prime Minister’s recent announcement on making it mandatory for doctors to prescribe only the generic name, and not brand name of a drug, has led to a flutter.
At the very least, the Government should require company’s to self certify their drugs to indicate whether they are in fact bio equivalent.
If enacted, the move will make it illegal for Indian doctors to write out a prescription for the trademark of the drug, forcing them to mention the chemical name instead.
If implemented properly, the hope is that pharmacists will fill the prescription with the cheapest generic drug in the market rather than being forced to dispense a more expensive brand as prescribed.
Whether pharmacists will play by the book is anybody’s guess.
    Option B
In the third sentence, IF ENACTED is mentioned referring to the PM’s announcement mentioned in statement A.

  9. Several decades ago, a man who came from humble beginnings, growing up in Missouri farm towns without indoor plumbing, lived an American Dream.
To help support his family, the young man worked long hours on farms and paper routes.
His giving attracted the attention of former President George Bush, who commended him as a “good guy” and a “generous person”.
He put himself through college at the University of Missouri, graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and completed a master’s degree and then a Doctorate in economics.
He pursued a life of public service, enlisting in the Navy and then serving in several important roles in the U.S government, earning the Navy Commendation Medal and National Defence Service Medal.
    Option C
In B, the struggles of the young man have been mentioned and in C, more details about the man have been mentioned in D and E. Hence, C is the odd sentence.

  10. Tiny particles in polluted air can travel from the lungs into our bloodstream and increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke, a new study warns.
Nanoparticles in air pollution have been associated with cardiovascular diseases, which can lead to premature death.
However, how particles inhaled into the lungs can affect blood vessels and the heart has remained a mystery.
Scientists have found that inhaled nanoparticles can travel from the lungs into the bloodstream, potentially explaining the link between air pollution and cardiovascular disease.
Pulmonary disease, respiratory infections and lung cancer were linked to the other 28%.
    Option E
We don’t know what is OTHER in the last sentence, hence it is the odd one out.

  11. In 1993, a man named Craig Newmark left IBM seventeen years to take a computer security position at Charles Schwab in San Francisco.
As a single guy new to the Bay Area, he was looking for ways to spice up his social life.
In early 1995, he started e-mailing friends to share information about local arts and technology events.
Could a system like this function based entirely on giving, instead of matching?
Word of mouth spread, and people began to expand the postings beyond events to feature job openings, apartments, and miscellaneous items for sale.
    Option D
Sentence E talks about what happened after he started emailing his friends, mentioned in C. Thus, D is the odd one out.

It’s really about building interactions with these sellers who at some point will become buyers. So, once you give your time and energy to aiding these retailers go it alone — the “Law involving Reciprocity” kicks in. Great blog post.
